Anyone familiar with his first book, Boyhood and Beyond, will be thrilled to know that Bob Schultz has written another excellent, character building book for boys titled, Created for Work.  With a gentle, grandfather-like tone, Mr. Schultz encourages his reader to serve the Lord by working heartily – giving their all to whatever task is set before them. 

Although written with young men ages 12 and up in mind, our whole family is benefiting from reading a chapter each morning before beginning our school day.  Like Boyhood and Beyond, the chapters in Created for Work are short and a joy to read.  The author does a masterful job of weaving his own life experiences into each chapter to help the reader understand the important underlying biblical principles that pertain to developing a good work ethic.  The humble wisdom and memorable word-pictures created by Mr. Schultz are sure to stick in the reader’s mind for years to come.  Topics include: initiative, confidence, persevering through difficulty, the importance of performing regular maintenance on equipment, solving problems creatively, respecting those in authority and much more.  Each chapter concludes with a few review questions to insure understanding and help the reader to apply what they’ve read to their own life. 

In a world that seems addicted to a life of ease and amusement, the message in Created for Work is like a breath of fresh air.  Our young men (and women) need to follow God’s way – not shying away from honest, hard work, always willing to do their best.  The lessons learned in Created for Work will cause children to grow in favor with God and man.  Don’t miss out on this life-changing book!
