Most homeschool moms know that teaching with a timeline will help "cement" their family's study of history.  However, it can be overwhelming to think about how to structure and use a timeline effectively.  Homeschool mom, Vickie Froehlich, has created a timeline that is both beautiful and functional.  A Timeline for All Time is a spiral-bound volume containing dated and lined pages, as well as historical illustrations (timeline figures) and maps.  You can use this timeline book with whatever history materials you prefer.  Vickie considers this a timeline workbook and has included helpful tips, a numbering system for students to use to cross-reference information on the maps with the people and events on their timeline.  Another unique feature is the inclusion of personal timeline pages for the student to mark key events of their life and the lives of their parents and grandparents.

A Timeline for All Time is printed on sturdy card stock, and is intended to last your child for years.  The timeline pages begin with Creation and continue through 2029 AD.  There are lines for writing and quotes of historical significance are printed along the bottom of each page.  The number of years covered per page depends on the era.  I do wish there was a way to add pages so I could include our own drawings and maps, but I'm thankful that Vickie has allowed a large amount of room on each page for recording information.  Because wars have many details you will want to include, the author has thoughtfully included separate timelines for the major wars in U.S. history beginning with the French-Indian Wars and continuing through the current War Against Terrorism.  Following the timeline pages and maps there are hundreds of beautiful, hand-drawn illustrations to be cut out and pasted on the timeline pages as you study.  By providing so many timeline figures, Vickie has created an all-in-one resource that is functional and affordable.  Although the book is held together by sturdy, plastic spiral binding, you will want to store and use with care as it is easy for the page edges and corners to get bumped and bent as it is place on the bookshelf.

I have always recommended that each child have their own timeline notebook and this is no exception.  A Timeline for All Time is a work-in-progress that each child will want to keep, cherish and refer to for years to come.
