Saxon Math
Many of you have requested that we carry this popular homeschool program and we listened! Though we have preferred to use Alpha Omega LIFEPACs & Horizon's Math, we have many, many friends who love their Saxon Math! And why shouldn't they - this program comes highly recommended by public, private and home educators alike. It is highly recommended by homeschool guru's Cathy Duffy and Mary Pride, too. Some of the key benefits that folks list regarding this premier math program is the constant review. Saxon books review every concept in every lesson for the entire year in a "spiral" approach. Because of this incremental approach and constant review, there is less "forgetting" of concepts learned at the beginning of the year. Since math builds upon itself, this approach also means that new concepts are more easily grasped.
| Saxon Math Primary (K - 3) Homeschool Kits include: Teacher's Manual. The heart of each K-3 program is the teacher's manual, which employs a unique instructional format. It contains daily lessons, each of which includes pre-class preparation instructions, a list of materials, and the entire scripted lesson. Scripted lessons provide the parent with questioning strategies and language designed to help children understand mathematical concepts. Since the teacher's manual is nonconsumable, it can be used in successive years with the purchase of new student workbooks and meeting books. Student Workbooks - A complete set of all necessary student materials is bound in two consumable workbooks. Student materials include written practice pages, masters, and fact cards. (There is no student workbook for the Math K program). You may order extra or replacement workbooks below. Meeting Book - Each grade level has its own consumable meeting book, which is used during The Meeting at the beginning of each day. This is the book used by the parent to explain, demonstrate and practice problems with the student. You may order extra or replacement meeting books below. Manipulatives are an important and integral part of the primary Saxon program. The Teacher's Manual contains lesson-by-lsson lists of all materials needed. You can save yourself time and money by purchasing their Manipulatives Kit, which we carry here in our catalog. |
